Creative Quilts

My move back to Utah after 35 years away is reuniting me with old friends and giving me the opportunity to make new ones. I have joined a quilters guild in the hopes of improving on my humble quilting skills.Yesterday our group attended the 44th Annual Quilt Show at the Springville Museum of Art in Springville, Utah. What a feast for the eyes! I can't say enough about the creativity and talent on display.

The museum itself is in a lovely historic building and is the oldest museum in Utah featuring the visual arts. There are currently dozens and dozens of quilts on display including several from our group the Silver Mine Quilt Guild.

The patterns ranged from historically traditional like this Baltimore Album Quilt,

to wild and contemporary like this colorful design.

One of my dearest friends had not one but two quilts chosen to be in the show!

Another member of our group quilted this whimsical village scene.

Such tiny stitches!

Patriotic quilts are a popular theme.
I love the sampler style of this one.

The black background of this quilt really
make the colors pop.

The tiny squares on this scrap quilt are smaller than a dime.

I'm always drawn to star designs.

I love the wool appliqué incorporated into this design.

The detail on this piece is incredible!

One whole room of the museum was dedicated to red and white quilts. So crisp and clean!

This is only a small sample of the many quilts on display.
I hope it inspired you too!
After a morning of inspiration we headed off to lunch. If you have a chance head to Springville for the quilt show. It runs through September 23, 2017.

  6. I recently moved to Utah from Florida, I am not sure where Springville is, but I will be sure to look it up and see how far south it is from me. Since I am in northern Utah, I am sure that is the direction it is. Still looking for a quilt guild and group that meets up at nighttime. Gorgeous quilts everyone has entered in the show.
